Central PA ASTD Meeting: August 19
Scenario-based elearning (SBeL)

Posted: 7/26/2010

Elearning is not a “new” concept in the training & development field. We have all been touched by elearning in some form or another. Elearning is convenient, efficient, and fun in most cases, taking training to a whole new level. A concept that may be new to many of us is scenario-based elearning “SBeL” also known as problem-based elearning. Scenario-based elearning’s advantage is that it takes the traditional elearning concept, and adds the element of reality. Reality is the best learning situation you can encounter.

Participants will be able to:

  • Identify the components of Scenario-based elearning
  • Recognize the tasks or steps best suited for “SBeL”
  • Identify the audience that best fits “SBeL”
  • Releasing “SBeL” into your world

Come to the August 19th meeting to learn how you can take those non-routine job steps that rely on decision making, trouble shooting, and analysis and have successful outcomes using scenario-based elearning!

Speaker: Troy A. Behlert Sr., Training Specialist at Adhesives Research Inc. in Glen Rock. Troy has been with the company for 20 years, including 6 years in training and development. He is responsible for developing SMEs, managing safety training, managing and developing elearning, and video creation for training and development and marketing opportunities. Troy holds certifications for human performance improvement, advanced instructional design and facilitation skills, ARC flash, HAZWOPER, powered industrial truck safety, as well as many other safety (EHS) certifications.

Central PA ASTD Free Professional Development Day
    Topic: Personalities @ Work
    September 17

    Posted: 7/25/2010

It is hard not to notice how people are different. But like you, my approach to tasks, communication, or pretty much anything- is the “right approach.” If only you would get with the program…my program of course.

Sound familiar? It’s amazing how after 24 years of working with teams how often our basic behavioral differences still show up at the root of many challenges in the workplace. There are many great tools to help teams and leaders with these kinds of challenges. One such tool is DiSC.

We are thrilled to be able to bring a FREE Professional Development Day to our Chapter on Friday, September 17th through the generosity of Inscape Publishing who will be providing their newest generation of DiSC tools for this day, and to JPL who will host this day in their amazing meeting space.

Rick and Susan Stamm of The TEAM Approach will facilitate this event for our chapter and guests. In addition to welcoming chapter members to attend this event, we are inviting potential chapter members from our community to come out andinteract with us during this fun filled day.

Please help us spread the word and help us grow the Chapter’s membership roll with this great recruitment opportunity!
