Chapter Leadership Position Descriptions

Position Title: Membership Chair

Responsible to: Chapter President and Board

Position Summary:
The Membership Director, an elected position and voting member of the Board, is responsible for chairing the Chapter’s membership committee; providing guidance and resources to ensure the Chapter’s membership goals and obligations are fulfilled. This includes member solicitation and renewal, maintenance of membership records, orientation of new members and communicating member and membership information to the Board, the chapter members and National ASTD.

Position Responsibilities:

Attends Chapter Board meetings and as many chapter functions as possible
Establishes and leads membership committee that conducts new member orientation, recruitment, and retention activities
Reviews and updates Membership/Application and Welcoming Packets as required
Coordinates New Member introductions
Works with Administrative Assistant to ensure membership database is updated with new members that renewal notices are sent, and that lists are provided to committee for those members who have not renewed
Develops strategies for following up with members who have not renewed
Maintains and provides information and statistics regarding the Chapter membership
Ensures that the electronic Membership Directory stays accessible to members

Position Qualifications:

Strong management and leadership skills
Attention to detail
Is required to be a ASTD National member
Willingness to devote at least 1 year to the Chapter in a leadership capacity

Time Required:

Approximately 6-7 hours per month, including Board meetings
Requested to attend ASTD National Leaders Conference in Virginia (2 days)
