Position Title: Volunteer Coordinator Chair
Responsible to: Chapter President and Board
Position Summary:
The Volunteer Coordinator Chair, an elected position and voting member of the Board, is responsible for overseeing the Chapter’s volunteers. The Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for organizing, assigning, and maintaining the volunteer opportunities in our chapter.
Position Responsibilities:
- Organizes, maintains, and updates list of volunteer opportunities in the chapter and checks with other Chairs regarding volunteer needs.
- Contacts (or coordinates contacting using the Membership Committee members) interested volunteers on a timely basis to gain more information about their volunteer interests.
- Maintains list of volunteer names and assignments, as well as position descriptions as available.
- Has a basic understanding of what is involved in the volunteer assignments in order to be able to give a general explanation to interested parties.
- Refers potential volunteers to the appropriate committee chair and follow-up on placement.
- Attempts to involve and utilize, as soon as possible after receiving expressed interest, all individuals who volunteer.
Position Qualifications:
- Is required to be a National ASTD member
- Good organizational skills
- Willing to devote 2 years to the Chapter in a leadership capacity
Time Required:
- Approximately 5-6 hours per month, including Board meetings
- Requested to attend ASTD National Leaders Conference in Virginia (2 days)
